Uganda has a lot to offer to the traveller:
Gorilla tracking in the mountains, white-water rafting down the Nile, not to mention Africa’s Big Five.
Our volunteering project is based in the capital city of Kampala in the South of Uganda. A busy yet compact city, Kampala hosts everything from top quality restaurants and bars, all the way to motorbike taxis (boda-bodas) for a quick, cheap, and exciting way to get around. The people of Kampala are truly welcoming and what’s more, speak good English - albeit with a heavy accent!
However, parts of Uganda are also suffering and are in real need. The North has seen conflict and unrest for many years that has subjected many children to horrific treatment, and left many villages in abject poverty.
There are 1.6 million orphans in Uganda, with 85% of them homeless.
